Meet Our Founder

Tanya Atkinson
Working behind the bar of my parent’s pub in Quilpie, from the age of 13, I found myself wearing many different hats: psychologist, mediator, advisor, project manager… the list goes on. This unique experience allowed me to discover my passion for understanding people’s stories and how it shapes their beliefs and therefore the decisions they make. This ignited the desire to understand more about people, so off to do a psychology degree I went. Fast forward to 3rd year of my degree and I had realised by then that I didn’t want to be a traditional psychologist and wasn’t sure which direction I wanted to go. As had happened so many times throughout my career, when presented with a fork in the road, another door opened and an opportunity materialised itself. I was offered the manager’s role of the country pub I’d grown up in. This is where my love of business AND people ignited.
At the age of 22, when I was looking to purchase my first home, I was frustrated by the lack of education available to lenders, so I got into banking. Within 18 months I was in a management role. For 12 of those years, I worked in management and leadership positions across various retail, business and agribusiness portfolios across Queensland. This experience enabled me to cultivate expansive knowledge about banking, people, leadership, and the importance of listening to your client’s needs. It allowed me to partner with & advise thousands of business and agribusinesses — the opportunity to understand their journey and their visions, to see what did work and didn’t work, and most importantly, how to implement these learnings to increase performance. It also afforded me the privilege of being sent internally to coach leaders and to “fix” branches and business centres, with performance problems.
For me, partnering with my clients isn’t just about tackling the current issues at hand but about empowering them with the tools and insights to understand their vision for tomorrow, and the strategic decisions that need to be made today to ensure future success.
